Tattoos were once seen as a type of counter culture, with only a small percentage of the population sporting ink.
However, over the last 10 years the tattooing has become the sixth fast growing industry, partly due to the popularity of reality shows like Ink Master, Miami Ink and its various spinoffs.
There are now over 200 tattoo shops just around the GTA. With so many shops popping up there is a risk of getting a poorly done tattoo, which has led to an increase in tattoo removals.
Thankfully, the good outweighs the bad, with tons of quality shops and artists located around the GTA. One shop in particular, which is know for quality tattoos and artists is Skintricate.
ABOUT THE SHOP
Skintricate is located in the small town of Streetsville, but has managed to create a massive and loyal fan base throughout Mississauga, Ont.
Skintricate is co-owned by shop manager Savannah and tattoo artist Hollywood, who after 13 years of tattooing decided to open the shop. It has been open since Nov. 1, 2011 and just recently celebrated its fifth birthday.
The shop is managed by Savannah and it features four full-time tattoo artists: Hollywood, Mike, Kyle, and Chris as well as Tamara on a part-time basis. The shop also includes Hollywood’s new apprentice Jamie, who does flash designs every Friday and Anna, the shops piercer, who has been with Skintricate since it opened.
The Skintricate staff strive to provide the best tattooing experience for their customers. This is accomplished by providing professional and sterile environment in which to tattoo.
THE SHOPS WORK
The shops artists handle anything from personalized tattoos to script based designs and everything in between.
After five years of tattooing the shop has amassed a massive portfolio and more importantly an extremely loyal following.
