St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market is a farmers’ market and flea market in St. Jacobs, Ontario, Canada. It was established in April 1975. It is the largest year-round farmer’s market in Canada, it draws about 1 million visitors annually.
In 2003 an unfortunate event occurred at the St. Jacobs Market. A fire broke out and destroyed one of the main buildings. The Fire caused $2 million in damage. It took 45 firefighters from four different fire stations to put out the fire. Luckily the fire did not affect any of the other buildings as the wind was blowing the flames the opposite way.
In May of 2016 a fire was sparked with a roofing torch at Peddlars Village. A roofing crew was repairing a section of the roof when the fire started. This fire is separate from the first building that burned to the ground at the St. Jacob’s Market in September 2013. It is a smaller building, made of converted barns that is home to a number of food vendors and an indoor flea market.
