Demonic Perceptions

Demons and Possessions, are they real?

By: Jovana Mitrovic

Demons and Demonic possessions have been written about throughout history. From the early days of witch hunting to contemporary demonic possessions, cases of possession seem to prove a good conviction. The battle of good vs evil is always painted to be biblically related and is said to only be fixed through an exorcism by a religious figure (usually priest). No one truly knows how or why it happens, but take a look at our interview with Joe Fatsis…

Demonic Attacks Real?

Tom Fatsis discusses how he transformed from a 20 year Satanist to a Christian, as well as his experiences with what he would refer to as demonic.

Exorcism Cases

Anneliese Michel

Anneliese Michel a victim of an alleged demonic possession in 1976.

Anneliese Michel was a German Catholic woman who was said to be possessed by demons and underwent an exorcism. Michel eventually died and the case was eventually labelled as a misidentification of mental illness, negligence, abuse, and religious hysteria. Michel’s story is recreated in the Hollywood adaptation The exorcism of Emily Rose.  Hard to believe, but what do you think?

“She soon had her suspicions confirmed when voices told her she was damned. The voices were paired with hallucinations during prayer. Though originally marked up to her epilepsy her behavior became increasingly bizarre; the young began eating coal, spiders, and licking up her own urine. While the 1970s aren’t exactly the bastion of the medical age it’s safe to assume that this stopped being epilepsy after the second spider-urine smoothie.

After journeying on a pilgrimage with another woman, it was determined that Anneliese was possessed when she was unable to pass by an icon of Christ. An exorcist was granted permission to attempt to exorcise the demon believed to posses her. This continued for almost a year in tandem with psychiatric treatments. Eventually Anneliese chose to rely strictly on the the exorcism sessions over any other medical treatments. These sessions proved to do very little, and on July 1st, 1976, Anneliese died in her sleep. An autopsy proved the cause of death to be starvation; during the exorcisms Anneliese refused to eat, choosing to die as a means to atone for the wayward youth.”

Robbie Manhheim

Robbie Manhheim is an anonymus American boy who underwent an exorcism in the late 1940’s. He was supposedly taken to a Georgetown hospital and eventually media had hyped around his supernatural story. The boy and his exorcism case became Hollywoods best selling exorcism series known as The Exorcist series. Here’s his story…

” Robbie Doe has never been identified (at least as far as I could tell) but he was supposedly possessed after using a Ouija board. He was taken to the Georgetown Hospital where he started to receive an exorcism from Father Edward Hughes. Father Hughes was five minutes into the ritual when the boy somehow dislodged a spring from the bed and stabbed him with it. The gash required 100 stitches.

The family moved to St. Louis where the boy underwent another exorcism, this one lasting six weeks. Just like the movie, the bed would shake and objects flew across the room of their own accord. Marks would appear on Robbie’s body, including the word “Evil”. Finally, the exorcism succeeded and the boy was able to live a normal life, not remembering much about what happened.

Such a view seems contrary to the findings of the physician and psychiatrist who deemed the boy physically and mentally healthy while he was experiencing these troubles in Maryland.
